Q: What was 44AD earlier to A.Y. 2011-2012?

Ans: The section heading was as “Profits and gains of business of civil construction” whereby it was applicable to only such assessees who were engaged in business of civil construction. Profit percentage was 8% only.

From Assessment year 2011-12, a new section 44Ad had been inserted inthe Income-tax Act to replace earlier  sec.44AD & 44AF.
