A registerd person shall not be entitled to take ITC in respect of any invoice or debit note for the suply of goods or service or both after the due date of furnishing of the retrun under section 39 for the month of September following the end of the financial year to which such invoice or invoice relating to such debit note pertains or furnishing of the relevent annual return , whichever is earlier .

my doubt is, if I have any input tax remained in itc credit ledger in March 2018. can I carry over that credit to the next financial year.
or it automatically carry forward to this financial 18-19 in ITC auto-populated in GSTR-2A

For ITC to be eligible -
Once such ITC satisfies all the above criteria and reflects in the Electronic Credit Ledger, there would be no time limit for carry forward of such credit.

The time limit prescribed i.e., (the due date for filing of return for Sep of following FY ) is applicable only for availment of ITC.
No time limit for c/f of credit and can be utilised for any GST liability of the same registration.
