Hello,

Can anyone tell me whether tds is applicable on printing job?

If yes, section under which applicable?

Yes T.D.S. is applicable on printing jobs under section 194c.

194C,IF THE PERSON WHO IS PRINTING IS AN INDIVIDUAL ASSESSEE-1%

IF THE PERSON WHO IS PRINTING IS NOT AN INDIVIDUAL ASSESSEE-2%

Dear Shailendra,

Vat is apllicable on material & TDS will be charged o the printing charges

Ask for the bill which show clearly the materail & printing charges for TDS deduction.

Else you have to deduct TDS on entire bill amount if it exceeds prescribe limit.

TDS applicable on labour portion of printing job only i.e.For Material portion TDS not applicable if it is seperately shown in the bill otherwise TDS will attract on gross amount of bill

Dear friends

if the bill specifically states that the material portion then the TDS would be only on the labor charges, otherwise TDS should be deducted on the full amount of the bill, agree with the learned friends

Yes it is applicable under Section 194C.

Dear Shailendra,

TDS is applicable on printing jobs u/s 194c of the Income Tax 1961. You can deduct TDS on the total amount reduced by the VAT amount or Service Tax incase of Labour work bill. for e.g : - Mr. A gives an invoice of Rs. 110000/- in which Rs. 10000/- is towards levy of Indirect Taxes, hence you will be liable to deduct TDS on Rs. 100000/- at the prevailing rates as declared by the Income tax Department.
