Tds challan

Hi,

We deposit our TDS through Kotak Bank. Now kotak bank doesn't issue the challan itself but through IDBI bank so the issue which i am facing is that even if we give the challan for depostion on 5th of the month. It gets cleared from our account on 7th and the date on the challan issued by the bank is 8th . Because of which we are liable to pay int on tds @ 1.5%.. despite of the fact that we gave the challan for deposition on 5th itself.. is there any remedy available to us in this case.. since the mistake is not on our part..

Some banks provide such TDS payment facilities where clients do not have internet banking facility or due to some other reason, if clients r not able to pay TDS online.

If bank makes payment on your behalf, then finally it is yr responsiblity to pay, in which case, you will have to pay interest for delay (but in this case, you need to sort this problem out with the bank by asking them to credit your account with the interest for their delay and also to ensure that such things don't repeat, I have done such things earlier with the bank.
If bank is authorised to make payment in their own capacity, you can very well consider date of tendering of payment as date of payment as already said by Deepak. But my question is how will you be able to prove this bcoz now Traces consideres the date of payment as the one on the challan.

Hi, This issue is persisting. Sonakshi, even if you try to discuss and get some help from Kotak help, it will be fruitless. I have faced same issue with Kotak bank. I explained them the issue. But the bank executive said that there was very little that could be done in this matter. Moreover, this cannot be explained to executive on the help line of Traces. The only option is to open account with the bank which gives challan immediately such as Corporation Bank or ICICI Bank. Even if somebody finds some solution it will not be through Kotak bank and the solution through others will be time consuming and tedious. So, take easy way pay from other bank as mentioned above.

You can make the payment from any bank online even a savings bank account can be used in such a case u may use the personal account of the owner, or you may open an account with any nationalised bank or schedule bank who can credit immediately rather than waiting for a long time as you cannot live with the problem.
