Tax deduction of professional development course

Respected members,

I wish to know if the expenses incurred on professional development course for self is tax deductible for a self employeed person.

E.G. If a tax practioner enrolls for a specialisation in internal audit, can he/she claim it as an expense citing the course is going to improvise his/her professional performance.
