Switching careers from IT

Hi Friends,

Am a new member to this forum.

currently i have around 6 years of IT exp (software development).

I have the following concerns.

1. I have a feeling that I was never too much interested in software engineering or computers, but entered this field mostly on peer pressure and also the money factor.

2. Am not enjoying my job much, and thinking of switching to an alternative career, at least 5 years down the line. .

3. Since college days, my strong points and interests were in mathematics and English.

I dont have any background in commerce or finance.

I am looking for a career which

1. does not involve working with computers all day long.

2. which can help me work independently or set up an independent practice. (something like a CA). Not sure if an ICWA certified person can also do this.

3. work which has something to do with numbers.

I request you to suggest a career which might suit me and which will be rewarding in the long run. (even if it may take around 5 years to complete)

I had thought about career in actuaries since it involved a lot of maths.

but only reason I did not go for it, was it didn't let me practice independently.

I heard that CA has to undergo article ship for 3 years.

Is it after passing Final exam or before that ?

Thanks in advance
