AMA / Costing – J B Gupta  (BEST) plus Study Material, Compiler and Practice Manual (It is better to prepare your own notes for theory portion – Must cover theory given in Practice Manual) (Padhuka is also good for self-study)

ISCA – Manish Valechha (BEST) (Memory Based Edition)... It is the best-selling book for ISCA. … it is comprehensive and easy to learn... It explains all topics with examples, diagrams, memory codes (refer study material if you have surplus time but not actually required). And at last, go through Practice Manual for important questions.

Direct Taxes - T.N. Manoharan Plus Summary Module of Vinod Gupta (Prepare notes for lengthy and typical portion, if possible). You can also refer Vinod Gupta Full Modules Set If you are having sufficient time for preparation.

Indirect Taxes – N S Govindan for Concepts (BEST) (Vineet Sodhani or Bangar for Practice and Past Exam Questions).

The best book for ISCA is icai modules & . pm.  U won't get proper marks for manish Valecha's  content. Moreover for memory based Technique, u can create urself. Presentation of the content is very gud in icai study mtrl & pm(must buy jan2016 edition since it some additions were made in jan'16 edition as compared with May16 exam mtrl. 

Take a suggested answer of last two or three attempts n compare the answer contained in icai mtrl. Presentation n answer content is same as like in suggested answers. So, u wil get more marks if u present the answer in the same way. In manish Valecha's book, content is less so u wil not get marks. 

For ISCA and AMA i suggest u to go only with PM & Refer Study Material where u required. it is enough.

For DT T.N.Manoram is best.

For whole 2nd grp u have to maintain one process.prepare short notes and summarise.

same should be follow in isca..you have to memorise it.

Madan is a good book. bt as per my personal experience and reviews of my u have to study with Study materila and PM.
