Single gst or multiple gst licenses?

Hi, can I register 1 GST license and do multiple businesses under the same brand name? Or do I have to register separate GST licenses for each business? 

Also, if 1 GST license is okay for multiple businesses I'll have to compute the taxing based on prevailing GST rates for that product/service category right?

if in multiple states you have to take registration in each state

It is optional to take multiple registrations for each business vertical. ie you may carry multiple business under the same gstin or you may obtain separate registration for each business if within one state

different businesses located @ diff states need separate registration 

and if within the state so add branch under one registration

if there is no different business verticle and it is in same state then it is not required to take another registration. However in same state if there is business in two places then you can do business in single registration by adding additional place of business in GST registration.
