29 March 2014I filed a belated return for AY 13-14(ITR 2), but i did a mistake by giving wrong challan number . I have given the amount correctly, So please let me know what to do.... can i file a revised return by changing the challan no... Kindly reply for the same at the earliest....

Belated return cannot be revised. If the Assessing Officer considers the return is defective he may give you an opportunity to rectify the defect

So can i submit the same ITR V to the department and wait for the intimation u/s 143 and file a revised return u/s153... Please clarify ... should i pay any penalty while filing revised return

Dear,
Belated return under Sec 139(4) cannot be revised. So what you do is , wait for intimation and after you get the intimation go to make rectification under 143(1) & 154 in income tax site and make your changes in Advance tax area. I Hope it will clear your problem.

So u mean to say i need not submit the ITRV (Original ) to the Department.....

Dear Greeshma
You have to send ITR-V to banglore then only intimation will be generated. I hope now your problem is solved, or you can put a P.M to me.
