Charitable Trust has engaged Security Contractors, Contractor for Canteen facility, Contractor for maintenance of garden and contractor for cleaning office and campus areas. These contractors are charging services tax on their bills. Can the Trust claim relief from the service tax on the bills raised by the contractors?

Where the service provider charges the ST on their services to charitable organisations, there is no exemption available. If it is a educational instiution then there are a few services exempt.
However where the works contract services are provided by a non corproate then they need to charge ST on only 50% of the value.
