I have got a notice under sec 143(1)(a) from IT deptt saying there is a difference in salary between that shown in Form 26AS and ITR-2 filed by me. Form 26AS shows the total gross income (which includes exemptions under sec 10 and Professional tax). After making the deductions and exemptions, comes the net salary (chargeable for tax) which is included in Head "Salaries" in ITR. The notice says a difference of Rs 2500, which is the amount deducted for Professional Tax. There is no row explicitly mentioned in Schedule Salary which can capture Professional Tax (it cant be included in sec 10 logically)
MY query is How to file revised return including 2500 Professional Tax as deduction from Gross Salary? A quick would be much appreciated.
