Poem: articleship

Article about Articles done
by An Articled Assistant

I came to Office with hopes and dreams,

To pass the exams all in a stream,

But I lost my hope and my Temper,

When I went for audit on that September.

Senior told me take a voucher,

Instead I showed him some torn paper,

He barked at me for no good reason,

As though I’ve done damn treason.

I spent those days with hatred in my heart,

With a view to kill and bury that “Bastard”

But days later, I found a friend

Till now we are same and will be to the end.

Year one passed and year two came,

Lots of files and audit works came,

We worked all day and tried our best,

Tilled our way even without rest.

Air was filled with sound of ticks,

Rooms with Computers gave mouse clicks,

Moaning of printers and smell of ink,

End result making our Boss always sick.

Somehow we swam against the waves,

Always managing ourselves to keep the pace,

We had our fun and enjoyed our time,

Boss were not at Office all those times,

Year two passed and year three came,

The last year for my articleship came,

The Exams welcomed me with an evil grin,

As though to punish me for my sins.

Three months leave is what I need,

He refused to listen and didn’t heed,

My colleagues tried to persuade him somehow

And thus I got the three months anyhow.

On leave days, I worked day and night,

With books and notes did I fight,

Results made me soft and tender,

Reminding me there’s May and November.
