Dear Expert,

Please let  me know difference between credit taken on "input" and on "input services received directly". When i was filling my service tax return that time i faced that problem. We are event management service provider.

Please dont copy paste from service tax notification, give me advice on your own words.

@ Nisha

Defination of "INPUT"

1) all goods used in the factory by the MFP or

2) any goods including accessories, cleared along with the final product, the value of which is included in the value of the final product and goods used for providing free warranty for final products or

3) all goods used for generation of electricity or steam for captive use; or

4) all goods used for providing any output service

Defination of "INPUT SERVICES"

1) any Service used by Output Service Provider for providing an output service; or

2) any Service used by Manufacturer, whether directly or indirectly, in or in relation to the manufacture of final products and clearance of final products up to the place of removal and includes:

  • services used in relation to modernisation, renovation or repairs of a factory, premises of OSP or an office relating to such factory or premises

  • advertisement or sales promotion, market research, storage up to the place of removal, procurement of inputs, accounting, auditing, financing, recruitment and quality control, coaching and training, computer networking, credit rating, share registry, security, business exhibition, legal services, inward transportation of inputs or capital goods and outward transportation up to the place of removal

From the above Defination it must be clear to you that INPUT is Cenvat input which is availed on goods purchased and INPUT SERVICE is Cenvat input availed on Services purchased.

Hope it is clearyes

THANKU very much :) SO NOW CLEAR .. As we are service provider so when we will take cenvet credit then we have to fill 3rd Colum : input service recived directly in st3 return... Correct me if I m wrong:

Dear Nisha,

Kinldy inform the details of services you provide and also the details of input services you are availing. Then only I will be able to advise.

we are Event Management Sevice provider .

and input service is -

1) Light & sound vendor

2) Fabrication vendor

3) Artist professional

4) Manpower

5) Security service

@ Nisha

You have to fill the input details in 1st column i.e "input". You Can use the 3rd column of "input service recieved directly" when your input and output servicces are same. For eg. You are provoding Event Management services okk. now if are availing services from another Event managemenr service provider than you should fill the input in 3rd column.

Thanku very much :

can u give me any link or file for details.

second think when we take cenvet input on phone bill, courier, Audit fee then where we will show  this cevent input :         in 1 cloum or any other colum

Please make it clear :

Waiting for reply!!!!!

Now i confused recently i saw in tally ST3 form and details .

(5B) (I) (b) (i) On Inputs: This box captures the Cenvat credit taken on inputs (raw materials) used in the production of finished goods.

(5B) (I) (b) (iii) On Input Services received directly: This box captures the Input credit taken services purchased.

But u said that i have to fill first colum for cenvet credit  but according to tallysolution i have to fill 3rd colum for  cenvet credit.

Dear Nisha,

You can fill the details in Column 1 as the Cenvat Input on Telephone, Courier, Audit Fee are not relating to your Output service.

but there is a confusion .. i saw in tally solution they said we will fill 3rd colum for input credit for service purchased and

There is a link for tally solution

https://www.tallysolutions.com/website/CHM/TallyERP9/Service_Tax_New/ST3_Report.htm

credit taken on input means it is excise credit taken on input and input services credit means any input services credit taken for providing output service
