Weather Tds is to be deducted on payment made to central railway u/s 194I
Is there any provision for non dedction of TDS for payment made to Govt. Please reply .

As per section 196, TDS is not to be deducted on payments made to govt.

Sec 196 says time limit for payment of tds to Govt and not saying that TDS is not to be deducted on payments to Govt.

Refer Circular No. 699 dt. 30th January, 1995. If payee is Government /Local authorities, there is no requirement to deduct TDS on payment of Rent u/s.194I.
