Online payment of TDS

w.e.f 1st April 2008,it is mandatory to pay TDS online.

Is this applicable only for TDS or for all Direct Tax payments.

can anybody throw some light on this.

PRESS RELEASE

The optional scheme of electronic payment of taxes for income-tax payers was introduced in 2004. With a view to expand the scope of electronic payment of taxes, it is proposed to make the scheme mandatory for the following categories of tax-payers:-

(i) All corporate assesses;

(ii) All assesses (other than company) to whom provisions of section 44AB of the Income Tax Act are applicable.

2. The scheme of mandatory electronic payment of taxes for income-tax payers is proposed to be made applicable from 1st April, 2008.

3. Tax-payers can make electronic payment of taxes through the internet banking facility offered by the authorized banks. They will also be provided with an option to make electronic payment of taxes through internet by way of credit or debit cards.

Hi,

I have to pay TDS pertaining to the assessment year 2008-09, but bank is not accepting manually and suggested to go for online payment.

Please let me know the procedure for online payment.

you can pay TDS through online.For this you need to have net connectivity and net banking facility and transaction password to pay taxes online from your bank account.

all major banks are accepting online payment of taxes

Dear Sir,

We are regularly payment of TDS in our Bank. This time we has issued the cheque in favour of ICICI Bank Ltd, Punjagautta Br, Hyd for the payment of TDS but they told us to payment online only. But we don't know how to pay the TDS.

Please provide information for the payment of TDS through online.

For that u have to open the following link https://tds.d3.pb.com/ebilling/public/index.jsp. You have to enroll for ETDS payment.For that you need Bank account or Credit card.It is very secure as encryption code is used.It allows flexible payments like automatic payment or online payment.After completion of enrolment u will get verifiation ID by making a call to 866-516-4039 or through postal service.,Email is compulsary for email notifications.

YAA it is compusory for paying TDS online.It is applicable only to TDS.Online is not applicable to all direct tax payments like Self assessment tax advance tax etc.

u have to pay online through bank account or credit card by enrolling in etds pay for any tds payments.this procedure is compulsory for manual payment or automatic apyment
