Notice under section 142(1) of the income tax act,1961

Hello to all the forum members...

I just join CACLUB...I have a query...

Our company has been incorporated as a private company on 02June 2010.  I recieved PAN card of company in late august 2010. Immediately after recieving PAN card I recieved a Notice from Income Tax Officer. He wants the income tax return for AY2009-10. Donot understand in that year company has no existence. Please help me is that notice is valid or not?

What can I do in such a situation.

Notice is issued under which section or just a routine query, inquiring if the return of tax is filled.

Just check the PAN Card there might be mistake of quoting the date of incorporation, resulting in letter from ITO.

Anyway reply to the Notice stating that the Company has been incorporated only on Dt. 2-06-2010 and that the company had no business in F.Y 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. Enclose Copy of the Incorporation Certificate as proof.

As righly said my Mr.Rishab, notice is just a formal query.So reply to the notice, saying that the company was not incorporated in the said AY
