New Registration for GST

How to register for GST if I don't have VAT/TIN no? I sell books online for which VAT wasn't required till know. However I have been told to get GST now. How may I get it if I don't have VAT etc no? I am a new online seller. Just started 3 months back.

cool
if your sales in a year are less than ₹20 lakhs then u don't need GST registration.
Further if u think, it will exceed, then get registered, it's simple online procedure.
But what kind of books are u selling ?
Is GST applicable for it, first confirm that.

I am selling printed novels (English) on e-commerce sites. I believe it's exempted category. I have been told that GST is still necessary for e-commerce. My sales are nowhere near 20 Lakh.

then it's not applicable for u.
If your sales are going to cross ₹20L, then u need registration.
For this purpose a year is 01.04.17 to 31.03.18

Maam but online websites like Ebay and Flipkart are demanding GST if I want to continue to sell on them. What should I do then?

even though ur turnover is zero or below 20 lacs if you are doing inter state transaction, u have to get registered

u have to get registered once gst is implemented 1 july

sir,

AT PRESENT I AM SERVICE TAX ASSESSEE SINCE GROSS RECEIPTS EXCEED RS.10 LACS. HOWEVER, MY GROSS RECEIPTS WILL NOT EXCEED RS.20 LACS FOR ANOTHER 3-4 YEARS.

WHETHER I SHOULD REGISTER UNDER GST AND THEN APPLY FOR CANCELLATION?
