ABC is a mfg company, registered under Excise, items being covered Plastic tubs, packing tapes etc.

now it wants to do some trading business for its customers - items like Paper, Computer accessories, etc. (these items are entirely different from the items being manufactured by it. no relation between any raw material etc.)

Can it do this trading business, from its existing premises, or it has to do any Trading Activity from a new separate premises. there are 3 floors in existing premises, Floor 1+2 being used for mfg items. It wants to use Floor 3 exclusively for Trading Activities.

1) Trading goods have to be stored separate and it can not be mixed with the manufacturing input or products,

2) RG23D should show a clear stock of exisable goods for trading purpose, and a stock book for others ( where cenvatable invoice is not to be issued)

3) 1st of all you have to submit a revised plan for your manufacturing unit, and then submit a new plan for trading floor

4) after these formalities, you can start up, however if manufactured goods and trading goods are identiacal then strict NOT advised
