Mis stating company name in invoice

Dear friends,

I'm in internal audit of a pharma company.

They are selling off the scraps and the corresponding statement of invoice given to buyers was signed by for and behalf of the company's old name. it is not the current name which the company is being registered with. 

So does this create any liability in the company's point of view. Pls refer some points if any.

The co can issue Invoices containing the Co's new name & ask the customers to cancel the old invoices.l
