What are the methods to determine the cost of acquisition (MARLET VALUE) of land and building as on 01-04-1981 for purpose of Capital gain, if the property registrat value are very low or in the absence of market value available with them.

You may contact a Govt registered valuer who may give you a certificate showing the market value of the given property as on 1-4-1981. This certificate is valid even in the eyes of IT dept.
