How many last previous year return files in this year?

My friend father would be retired in the year 01/06/2011. He has received monthly pension from central govt. & under the income tax slab rate non taxable. But he has not return filled after the retirement. My question is can I possible to fill the return for those previous years missed? What is due date for missed return submitted?

You can give application to AO with suitable reason for failure of filing of previous it returns. If AO give you opportunity for filing of old itr then you can file it

If you have missed filing IT returns on time, you can file it within 1 year from the end of relevant assessment year

These returns which are filed after due date is called – BELATED tax returns (Section 139(4) of Income Tax Act 1961)
