Filing of itr...very very urgent

Dear All,

My aunty has to file her ITR for the Assessment Year 2012-13.She has changed her name and the same has been applied for PAN (Application for change of name in PAN has been made to the dept.).My question to all of you is that whether she can file her ITR with changed name or the dept will not allow her to file ITR with new changed name..Is it mandatory to file ITR with old name??

Please reply as soon as possible..Very Urgent

No there will be no issues in filing the ITR with changed name as the PAN card number would be same as on the card you applied for change.

While filing PAN number matters not the Intials or any other chages in name.

If you are doing online filing please you can cross check you are name as it is in Old or New applied form(as while registering it is mandatory to enter name)

if name is changed, file return accordingly otherwise proceed with old name...

Actually She needs to have applied for change of name in PAN.As of now she didn't apply for change of name in PAN.What documents are required to apply for change of name in PAN. She has applied for chaenge of name in Gazzatte

There is Change PAN Card Form, 2 Photos, ID & Address Proof to be submitted in IT Department where ther is PAN card submission section.

If you are filing Physically IT retrurn ypu can file return with changed name, there will be issues in online filing.

So then now she has to file her ITR with her Old name only.. Once the name change is effective she can file a letter for Change.

@ Divya.Her name change is effective as the effect of the same has been there in the Gazzette of India showing her new name..So can we apply for change of name in PAN.

You are clearly telling as follows:

Apply for name change in PAN in proper form and enclose a copy of Gazette publication. In this application you have to mention her Permanent Account Number (PAN). Then you will get the new pan card with new NAME and old PAN.

Now you can proceed to file the return in her new NAME and using the old PAN.
