The Economic Times is presenting ET Prodigy, a case study competition where the sharpest young minds in the country strive for strategic excellence. With the title of ET Prodigy comes a brand new Skoda Laura, an opportunity to meet India Inc. at the ET Awards for Corporate Excellence and a whole boat-load of other prizes. You've got till Sept 28, 2009 to crack the case. But the sooner you begin the better.

Q1. What is ET Prodigy?

The ET Prodigy is an initiative by The Economic Times to nurture and encourage excellence amongst the youth by way of a Case Study Competition. Case Studies would be evaluated by a jury before being adjudged winners.

Q2. How does ET Prodigy work?

All participants are required to fill in the Case Study as per the templates and guidelines provided. The Case Study will be short listed by the ET Prodigy Knowledge Partner in consultation with The Economic Times.

Q3. Who are the partners in ET Prodigy?

ET Prodigy is the intellectual property of The Economic Times, India’s leading business daily. The Economic Times is supported by KPMG, who is the Knowledge Partner for the competition. The prize sponsors have provided prizes for the winners.

Q4. What is the role of the Knowledge Partner?

The Knowledge Partner KPMG has been assigned with the task of preparing the Case Study for the competition, assessing the submitted entries, and participating in short listing the finalists on the basis of which winners will be decided.

Q5. Who should participate in ET Prodigy?

Participants are required to be Indian nationals between 18 and 32 years of age (on September 28, 2009) and should fulfill either of the following criteria:

Category A: Students (graduates, diploma, post graduates), including students who are pursuing have completed their degree within the current calendar year and are not engaged in any part time or full time professional employment. Participants in this category would be 18 < 26years of age

Category B: Working professionals between 23 < 32 years of age

The following persons cannot participate in ET Prodigy, if they are currently: (a) An employee of Bennett Coleman & Co. Limited or group companies of The Times Group (b) A partner, director or employee of KPMG or any of its network of firms in India, (3) A member of the evaluating panel for ET Prodigy (4) member or employee of sponsors or their group companies

Q6. How can I participate in ET Prodigy?

To participate, download the Case Study template, fill in the details required and send the completed entry before 12 midnight of 28 September 2009 toetprodigy @ indiatimes.com . Only electronic submissions will be entertained and are required to follow these procedures (1) A qualified entry should not exceed the word limit stipulated against each parameter. (2) All entries should be in the form of a Microsoft Word document in font Times New Roman (size 12) with single line spacing. (3) The cover page of each entry should contain the name, institute/ organization name, education degree/course, e-mail address, mobile phone number, alternate phone number (4) Category A: Students between 18 < 26 years of age can participate. If you are a member of the ET in Campus programme, the completed case study document should be titled as per the following format Participant Name_ Institute_ City - Category A_ETIC. Other students can title the completed case study document as per the following format Participant Name_ Institute_ City - Category A . Category B: Working professionals between 23 < 32 years of age can participate. Completed case study document should be titled as per the following format Participant Name_ Company name_ City - Category B. (5) Entries should be sent by email only toetprodigy @ indiatimes.com . The last date for receipt of submissions is midnight of September 28, 2009. Entries received after the due date/time will not be accepted.Entries that do not follow the aforesaid procedure will be rejected.

Q7. What is ET in Campus programme?

ET in Campus (ETIC) is a programme conducted by The Economic Times at select educational institutions. Students of the institutions enroll as members of ETIC and enjoy benefits including discounts on subscriptttion of The Economic Times, contests, quiz competitions, lecture series to name a few.

Q8. Is there any additional documentation or information required to be provided by participants?

Short listed candidates will be asked to provide the following documents for scrutiny by the jury before being declared the winner. The documents required to be provided include (i) Scanned copy of valid photo identification, stating the date of birth. For this purpose, scanned copy of a valid driving license, voter ID, income tax, pan card, school leaving certificate, passport or ration card may be provided. Other forms of identification will not be accepted. (ii) In addition, students should provide scanned copy of the institute ID card or a scanned copy of a letter of certification from the institute duly signed by the Dean/Principal. And working professionals should provide a scanned copy of the company ID card or a scanned copy of a letter of certification of employment from the company. Documentation should be sent by email only toetprodigy @ indiatimes.com within the timelines communicated. Documents received after the due date/time will not be accepted.

Q9. What is the confidentiality of Case Study shared by participants in ET Prodigy?

The Economic Times shall be entitled to acquire and use, free of any additional charge or consideration and without restriction, all such intellectual property, communicated by the participants in their entries for any purpose that ET may deem fit.

Q11. How is the ET Prodigy Case Study to be filled?

Participants can refer the Case Study template and guidelines therein for filling in the Case Study.

Q12. How will the Case Studies be short listed?

Case Studies will be short listed by an evaluating panel which comprises of members of The Economic Times and KPMG, Knowledge Partner for ET Prodigy.

Q13. How will the winners be informed and what will winners receive?

ET Prodigy will publish the winners list on the website in October/November 2009 and also inform winners at the email id mentioned in the Case Study.

The Grand prize winner across categories will win a Skoda Laura car and be invited to attend The Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence at Mumbai. The Economic Times will provide travel, stay, breakfast, lunch and dinner for the participant - all other costs will be the responsibility of the individual. Additional guests or nights stay will not be covered by BCCL. Exchange and/or replacement of gifts or provision of cash in lieu of gifts will not be permitted.

Prizes are pre decided and cannot be exchanged and no cash will be provided in lieu of the gift. All taxes, levies and applicable fees/charges etc. payable for the gifts will be borne by the winners.

There is no feedback provided to participants.
