there is one joint account namely primary his wife n secondary he , n he makes purchase n sale of shares from this account who need to file income tax return?

but his wife not involving in trading of purchase and sale of shares?
he needs to file his return as the income from trading in shares acccrues on his part
I emphasis on transaction/demat account and not bank account.
