Director disqualification

Vivek Nadumuri Company law query: mr.A is director of x.ltd, which has failed to redeem its debentures due for repayment on 30.06.2000 and such failure continues. He is proposed to apoint as a director of another company on 30.11.2001. Whether disqualificatio -n under section 274 applies to him? If so why?
