Under GST, we have dual control system. For intra-state supplies we are supposed to collect CGST as well as SGST. If the total GST Rate is 18%, then we are supposed to collect collect CGST and SGST @ 9% each. What is the provision of the GST laws which states such a 50%-50% bifurcation of GST rate into CGST & SGST?

Sir,

The GST Compensation to States Act specifies about Cess to be collected . I did not found about manner of collection of CGST(50%) and SGST(50%).

I have also the same question. Under which section it is written that GST rate shall be devided equally in SGST and CGST

@ raja PM. by paying taxes in form of vat, octroi, entt. tax, parking toll etc. (may be i have understand your question wrongly..please correct me, if needed.)

Regarding my question I would like to take my words back. U/s 9 of CGST it is written that their shall be levied a tax as notified by CG. CG has notified the tax rates via Notification No.1/2017-Central Tax (Rate) dt 28.6.2017 (which are in divided into schedule of 0,2.5, 6, 9 & 14%)

Currently i am residing in delhi. Our state govt. has passed its state GST bill which is exact replica of CGST Act.Thus DGST has also section 9 which is charging section of GST and regarding rate notification the have issued NN No.F.3(15 )/Fin(Rev-I)/2017-18/DS-VI/382 dt 30.6.2017.. again replica of CG notification (which are in divided into schedule of 0,2.5, 6, 9 & 14%)

Thus the combined rate of GST is - 0 , 5, 12, 18 & 28%.
