Invalid return order us 139(9)

My ITR is considered as Invalid us 139(9) as I have not rectified defect in 15 days of Defective ITR notice. Now can I file the Return again in fresh for that AY or what can be the consequences for ITR declared Invalid by dept ??

As you have not rectified your return within 15 days your return would be treated as invalid and consequently it would be deemed as return was not filed. Hence if you do not file a fresh belated return now you would be a non filer as far as the Income Tax Department is concerned.

I have a similar issue.I need to file fresh retun for AY 15-16 since the original return became invalid.but when i try filing the fresh return i get get an error message from the incometax site saying only one original return can be filed U/s 139(4) / 139(1).

please help me out..
