Sumit aggrawal - complete guide for audit - good buy?

Has anybody actually bought Summit Aggarwal yet?

They say its available at 119 branches of institute but the same is not there when i called at my local WIRC office (Thane).

If anybody could give some insight/review about the same, would be very helpful, before actually making a buy.

Mr Saurabh, Pls understand one thing very clearly. Since May 2014 ICAI has stopped recommending any Books of any Pvt Authors then how can ICAI allow sale of any such Pvt Author Books on its Publications Sale Counter ? I hope you now understand it very clearly that this Sumit is making wrong claims about his Book. Also I can tell you that he has given a Big write up of CA Amarjit Chopra sir our Pas Prez. stating that the book is good, but let me tell you that I personally had a word about this with CA Amarjit sir when I had meet him at NIRC few days back in some Seminar, where he flattly refused about giving any such endorsement about the Quality & recommendation for the Book, Rather he said that Sumit had on a extreme Personal request taken a permission for a small writeup by Sir in the Book saying that Sumit is doing a Good job by authoring a Book on Audit, but has never said that the contents of the Book are endorsed as good. CA Sumit is misguiding the students & When this was brought to the notice of CA Amarjit sir, he has asked Sumit to withdraw all such claims in his further edition if any ( which would rather never come ) is brought out by Sumit.

ALL STUDENTS BEWARE OF THE BOOK OF AUDIT BY SUMIT

Mostly would think of some other already known author for the subject.

Pankaj garb is good for audit.. No idea about summit sir book.

Saurabh, A piece of advice if you are comfortable, I can tell you that Just go with the latest Edition of Practice Manual, Read its Twice / thrice along with Past 10 Attempt ICAI Exam papers & RTP for last 3 - 4 attempts, along with a Practice of Mock test of atleast 3 Papers writting under exam conditions, & Check the Presentation style & quality of your answers comapred to same given by ICAI & be rest assured you dont need to refer any other Book or material to score Minimum 50 - 55 marks in how so ever type of paper comes in the Final exam. Now even then if you are very much inclined towards refering any other book for your mental satisfaction, then Refer Kamal Garg, ( one of the truely good Reference Books for CA Final Audit ), Now its Your call

Same above should be done for Co law also. ( No Need to refer any other Book there too )

I would further continue in this thread, request you to pl guide me about other subjects too like DT, IDT, ISCA & other practical subjects(FRM, SFM & AMA)

I would appreciate your prompt reply on this, so i can buy the materials for the subjects.

Hi Saurabh,

I had gone through some sample topics and compared the same with ICAI material/Padhuka and V K Agarwal. For Perr Review topic, ICAI gives two definitions (one general and other as per statement), whereas it provides onl;y one.Again objectives are not as per ICAI study material. As we all know, in most of the subjects, ICAI prefers language in its material.

Otherwise concepts in book are good. It contains question bank and revision points with audit standards in a sigle book, unlike other books. But not satisfied about the content.

I agree with PSPSPS and would like to suggest a step ahead. If you have time you can go for ICAI material. It looks bulky as page margins are more, paper size is small and not very loving font used. If you see V K Agarwal earlier editions, it was nothing but copy of ICAI material with small font size and big paper/book size. I m personally not comfortable with "tabular" books like current agarwal edition or Surabhi madam.

You must have obeserved that this being a core subject CA profession, even rakers struggle to get 60-65 marks (who score 80-85 marks in vast subject like DT and around 90 in subjetcs like costing). This is just because books in the market do not cover everything in ICAI material and in the same language of ICAI (earlier editions of VK were covering most of the things but now they copied surabhi bansal style of tabular book and reduced a lot of content and case laws). In some books contents are not complete and in some others strandards are given in separate book (say Padhuka is good and comprehensive but standards book is different).

So if possible stick to ICAI material. In PE II I could score 68 marks in audit without any classes just by studying module.

From my experience, I still believe in ICAI material. And this is must for at least Audit and ISCA.

Yeah Sandeep, i have almost made my mind to go for PM only, waiting till the regional office here gets it..

The only thing good about his book that took me for it in the first place was, the summary/short notes for revision a day before exam, which wont be possible for PM(unless i myself make the notes..)

Btw i just found this upload in the files section re. how to get max marks in audit, which it appears to me heavily influenced/backed up by some associate of Mr. Sumit!

So even though i ll be buying PM in this week, somehow i'm being indecisive about this book over PM, mainly keeping in mind that how to cover up the major points, a day before exam.
