While making Tax payment of Penalty online,

The bank site is asking to fill up penalty payment code as 11c or N11c....

Code 11C is for Penalty Order u/s 271(1) (c) and N11C is for Order Other than u/s 271(1) (c).

I have not received any demand notice. But I saw after logging into efiling web page some demands are there in the relevant page of some amount due for an earlier year. I want to pay that amount through direct "e-pay tax" in that webpage. after filling 280 form I get a confirmatory chalan wherein I have entered thetotal amount due. As this is perhaps some extra tax due to be paid based on assessment by incometax officer I can fill only total amount as indicated in the demand page and not under various categories like educational cess etscs. I have another doubt what to enter under penalty code 11c N11c. will the "total" be automatically entered? e-pay tax is convenient as the information will directly go to income tax dept but this problem exists. can somebody clear it. thanks

this is absolutely a typical vague state ment. If i HAVE NOT RECD ANY ORDER from IT then what should I do > what should I fill ??/ I am paying immly the TDS, - NO PENALTY, NO ORDER FORM IT - then ?????

Hello Sirs, In my opinon

Code 11c: for Penalty in the normal proceedings, where the order is issued after giving proper notice

Code N11c: Penalty under IDS can be classified in this code, since the Form 2 can be treated as order [ so that it can be interpreted as order other than under Sec 271(1)(c) ]

Both Codes 11C & N11C relate to penalty payment.

The main difference is that 11C pertains to specifically Sec 271(1)(c) which deals with concealment of income & the penalty levied in this case ranges between 100% to 300% of the tax sought to be evaded. However it should be noted that this penalty has been withdrawn w.e.f. AY 2017-18 onwards.

While the code N11C is relevant for all the other penalty payments.

Meaning : Penalty code 11C or N11C is related to the penalty for late filing of TDS statements or for incorrect or incomplete information in TDS statements, respectively.
