Costing (ama) - help needed in choosing

Final 968 views 3 replies

Hi Friends,

I am appearing for both groups this time but will be concentrating on only one (i.e. Group 2) since I have an exemption in ISCA.

I have fairly prepared for IDT. With regards to DT preparation, I would say it isn't bad either. The problem is with AMA only.

1. So far I have only finished QT.

2. Planning to leave Standard costing since I am not aiming for any exemption in this subject.

3. Now what other chapters should I concentrate? Can you please give me a order in which to read the remaining chapters. Please also mention the difficuly level while naming the chapters. I would like to start with easy ones first for better coverage.

4. I am only aiming for 50 marks (since I only need  aaverage of 43 marks to clear this group)

P.S. Starting with Transfer pricing today. Might finish it tonight and read  Uniform Costing & Inter Firm Comparison, Cost Sheet, Profitabilty Analysis and Comparison

first of all AMA is a tricky subject. I failed miserably in the first attempt but passed in the second attempt.

Let me tell u what all I did

1) Since mostly i know that even i prepare problems for hrs and hrs, it wont be useful as problems asked in the exam are mostly tricky and u need more than 3 hrs to solve the problem.

So I led emphasis on theory qns given in Institute material. Don even dare to omit a single theory qn.

U cant believe. during my attempt, theory qns coverage was for 45 marks.

So first Concentrate on Theory qns.

2) dont even omit a prob during the exam even if u dont know.It doesnt matter whether u solve the problem or not. ICAI always gives step marks

3) In case of Problems, do the one which u r comfortable with and feel easy. once u finish that , attmpt the remaining

Trasnfer PRicing Important but always tricky... sure shot question of 10marks

ABC usually also comes on regular basis for 6-10 marks

Theory Topics like Target costing,Value chain, life cycle costing, TQM also have practicals qustion and these topic accounts for 20-30 marks

Relevant costing is easy but takes time to finish ..usually asked around 10-25 marks...

All the Best...

and how u prepared for ISCA ...?

You mean to say that just through preparation of QT and Theory part is enough to pass?

Well, Frankly speaking I did get 44 last time. All I prepared was only QT and little bit theory. Just that I dont want to rely on luck and want a sure shot pass.
