How To Deal With A Bad Boss

I have a boss who is short tempered, narrow minded, ostracized by various other departments and tries to crush peoples' sentiments.

I dealt with such a boss in a very simple way by giving him back such hard language that for a few days he found it difficult to talk to me. I guess i have given it back to him at least 4 times. I am very professional in my work and thorough.

Because of my work, even the directors of the organization, directly call me to handle the tasks. This puts pressure on my boss to better behave with me. Now what happens is that whatever I do, he simply endorses it. No questioning. If he questions irrationally or whimsically, he is assured that he gets it back.

The only principle I recommend is that you do excellent work, have good contact with your boss's boss and speak out to his or her face. I have tried it in two different organizations with two different bosses. In both, I have succeeded. When your boss knows that you won't tolerate nonsense, he would be ten times more careful.

I tried this during my articleship but it didn't work. My boss gave form 109(articleship termination form) in my hand.:)

Boss is always Right.. Dont forget it...:-)

@ viral yes ... sometimes it works when ur boss is rude n u have good relation with super boss but not always .... cause many times even if u know that u r not wrong & mistake is not urs still u have to keep mum  indecision... why because u dont have other option (applicable when u  cant interact with ur super boss)

Well I agree with Bhargav....Hahaha

My senior manager always screams a lot when he finds out that a mistake has been done and follows that with insulting remarks. He acts very well in front of his boss but always talks badly about us. Nothing we do is good to him and he sees himself as the only capable worker and that without him, the company won't survive. I am sick and tired of this man! If I argue, I feel that I may be given a pink slip. I know that I am not competent enough to battle with him. Perhaps I may have to bear the insults or start a business of my own.

The best way to defend is to attack..

Though I feel that a mouthful of pleasantaries may not always help, but giving it back in the manner and standard that is beyond his understanding may make him think the next time he comes up to you, because a treatment always cures.
