Which consumes less time? coaching or Self study

Coaching is much preferred and consumes much less time. think abt this- u dont understand a question or a problem. when u are doing self study u'll have to look in multiple books, use many refrences, etc. and it still might not solve your problem. coaching classes have a much better road where they will solve your problem with ready refrences. and if u revise all thats done in classes, then that would be enough. if u have time, then u can prefer for self study [theory subjects]. for practical go for classes. u'll find it easier and much helpful. u may come across people who may have passed well without coaching. but not everyone can do that. if u are a slow learner (& lazy :P), coaching is always preferred

Yes, You are correct coaching takes more time but with out coaching self study requires more time than required self study with coaching. For example assume coaching takes 6 monts and for exampreparation required 3-4 months. so total time requires 10 months(evethough it is 8 months sufficient but depending on student's capacity) . In case you have to consantrate only self study it requires 12 months(to get the perfection on subjects) eventhough spend that time you may not get clarity on some topics so it takes much and more time. But depending on the student's capacity it required only 6 months time to complete the syallabus with proper planning.

As per my view coaching is just for understand the subjects and idea for planning of subjects how to prepare, which would be prepare etc....

at the end of the day - it is self study which matters more than the coaching...

even if you opt for coaching, only self study will determine your success..

Ms. Sharma, isnt it obvious that at the end of the day, self study matters.
coaching without self study is like preparing food and not eating it:)
its just that learning to cook from an expert(coaching) is much easier and faster that learning to cook all by urself (self study). eventuially both will learn to cook but the one with the expert will know a variety of dishes and will be able to do the cooking( self study) nicely :D

I m of the view that self study is preferred if you hv adequate time to spend on the studies...!! there is no harm, nor any risk in study self.., bcoz,., thats the only thing u'll be doing even after attending coaching.., but the problem is, without going through the course content, what to study, how to study, today's individuals straightaway thinks of going for coaching without applying the slightest prudence whether it is at all required in that subject or not..!! This 'blind faith' is what creates a problem.

The system shud b, wen u go for coaching, u shud b clear what u r there for...!!! blindly following what the teacher says is a strict no-no..!!!

Pls go through the course content.., apply prudence, where u can do ur own self..., and pls try going for teacher who actually teaches..,!!! These days, the fame and name have gripped most of the teachers..., so there u don't actualy study but just attend the ritual..!!!!

My personal view pls.

I have 1 and half year in hand before my final attempt. I decided to try self study for more 3 months and then to join coaching of practical subjects, if needed.

coaching cannot replace self study but only add long term dependency on teachers. I must be systematic and very careful if i opt only self study.

Since you have 1.5 yrs in hand, i would suggest you must go for tuitions atleast for a subject like Direct Tax.

Also select classes where you get to learn in depth (Not just from exam perspective).

We want to join coaching because it is a disciplined way and we don't get distract by everything happening around us. We give fees so we stay regular in class even we don't like their method of teaching.

We get the benefit of being regular, systematic and guided in preparation and Exams

The problem is that they don't provide demo classes. their ex-students, instead of giving sincere advice ; confunse us with their personal opinions. then how to find which coaching is good? Advt. may not be parameters.

Hello Deepak,

In my opinion self study is better for you if u have enough time and have the habit of deciplined and continuous study. I am giving u this advice bcz i also opted for self study. In self study you have to refer different books... u may face some difficulties but u can solve them with the help of books, notes or some friends. Self study will provide a good analytical ability.

SFM is the subject which is too difficult to study self (as per my experience). you can take coachings of that subject in which you find difficulty but dont rely only on coachings..

Its like self cooking and eating in restaurent...u decide ur self ...

There r many Successful CA's who didn't take coaching and with coaching

So u take decision by considering ur intelligence, hard work, time management.money.age, parents support,family problems, etc all the best

hello brother in my opinion u must opt coaching for practical subjects only like SFM, Accounts, Cost , idt only and rest of subjects u must study daily by selfstudy also...
