Cost and fm, may 2012!!!

friends,

i have appeared for my ipcc for the first time and have found that 'cost and fm' was not so easy...i have attempted all the questions except for two .....but then on the flip side, i feel if checking is done in a substantially srtict manner, i may not be able to get proper marks. my question to you

how is the checking pattern in c.a in general? does it get bit liberal if the paper is made tough?

hey sneha, well....regarding the checking pattern, u can understand since this is a professional exam, the examiners would definately expect a bit sophisticated answers from students. regarding cost and fm, well may be it can get a bit liberal as paper was quite tough, but then it ultimately depends on the examiner. i would applaud you in one respect that you have attempted. even if your answer is not correct, it would atleast show that you have knowedge about the matter, you will get some marks for it!!

Dear Sneha,

One thing you have to keep in mind is you are writing professional exam. Examiner will test your knowledge on different aspects, like how you will handle the situation if such cases happens practically. As a professional you should able to handle this. Think of a position once you qualify you will be CFO, Finance advisor or Tax advisor, which means you have to handle the situation. Having said that, don't bother much about the exams which is already over, which you can do it after 16th May 2012. Start preparing for the rest of the papers and I wish you will do your best. Till then all the best.

same problem for me too were tensed this is my 3 atempt and i have to score only 137 for acc exemption

Dear Bose, Please stop worrying about the things that has already happened. Focus on the balance papers and I am sure you will do your best.

Dear Bose, Thanks for your prompt reply and that should be the positive attitude. One more thing is what you require is only 137 in 3 papers. Accounts 1 you have 63, Law you can score min 45 and Tax if you can focus well you can easily score 55 and the balance 40 you will score in Costing. So, stop thinking about costing and focus on Taxation to score atleast 55 and I am sure that you will do it. All the best.

dear frnds ....... i wuld like 2 advise all of u......if papers were tough n u feel tht u could nt perfrm as much as required...dont wait for reslt .... accept the performce.......n restrt ur study ....

Well said CA mukesh! I did the same thing after i appeared in ca final exams. 2nd group was not well enough to clear. so instead of waiting for the results i started the prepration almost after 15 days of my last exam. and finally in the next attempt i cleared.

I too appeared in this attempt...........questions were critical n more so coz paper was so lenghty..........m sayin abt costing.. i too hope for liberal marking............i attempted 82............ but expect 1 question i attempted everything partially correct........ theory was bit better..........name the cost mein doubt h......... matching some , some not....... i got 51 in last attempt in costfm but cudnt make in aggregate.got 182..............very tensed

sorry ICAI will never be liberal to evaluation or assessing the papers whether the the paper was easy or tough..........it just expect answers in a manner to which the question is asked.
