If  you observe the trend of number. of students appeared for exams in the last 5 attempts it was in  increasing trend ( as compared to  the previous attempts).

But  in May-16 (when you take individual group wise ) it has decreased by more than 50 % as compared to Nov-2015 exams and May-2015 exams

It is not just because

  • Many students cleared in Nov-2015. Exams,  even if we consider so, it wont reach 50% of students appeared.
  •  If we consider students who were appearing in individual groups  i.e. group-1 and group-2 decided to take both the groups simultaneously there should be drastic change in number of students appeared in Both the group for May -16. But if you look at the trend there is no variation upwards infact it has reduced in number

I am just curious to know the reason for decline in number of students.

  • Is it due to change in syllabus?
  • Students not prepared well for the exams and don’t want to give exams until they are professionally fit ?
  • Is the statistics given by ICAI correct ?
  • Students awaiting for the syllabus to come into force and then appear ?
  • Students loosing hopes of clearing exams and decided to quit CA profession ?

I know above issue is irrelevant and kind of Post matterm not useful for any one.

But for my curiosity I am just seeking your valuable replies what could be the  probable reason for the above decline in figures

The above figures are obtained from ICAI website and attached here with for your reference.
