Can i check whether the challan given to me is genuine?

Hello friends,

I have filled Income tax through my CA. He has given me a copy of itr and challan in pdf format.

challan is having a no : ITNS 280.

I went to website : https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/oltas/servlet/QueryTaxpayer

there i have checked my challan but message comes such challan doesnot exist.

Is there any other procedure to check wheater the challan is genuine ??

I asked my CA also but he says there is no such procedure to check challan

In this website one can only check challan related to tds. Is that true or he is making me fool.

PL help me.

Firstly, I would like to say you should never doubt on a Chartered Accountant. They work Professionally and in the best way to help out their clients. Also they are bound by the Professional ethics so there is rare chance of making you fool.

As per your query: Challan is having a ITNS 280 it is a code given to the challan for income tax like challan No./ITNS 281 is for TDS/TCS tax challan. Also, for the genuinity of the challan you can find the bank's stamp on the challan. you can find the copy(SAMPLE for your understanding) of Challan No./ITNS 280 on https://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/forms/107010000000345599.pdf .

Furthermore, you can login to https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/UserLogin/LoginHome.H T M L to check your Income tax return filed. (to login in this page you need username and password which you can collect from your CA).

Kindly download form 26AS, you would get to know whether it is paid or not. If you have such type of doubts, just you cloud have only paid that challan...
