Auditor requirements in India

Hi, I am a student studying accountancy in the UK and currently have a project looking into ICAI's compliance with IFAC's Statement of Membership Obligation 2 and Int. Education Standards.

I'm currently having trouble finding clear information on the process and requirements of practising as an external auditor in India, in particular the educational requirements and processes. I fully understand the process and requirement to become an CA with ICAI though am unsure of the further requirements for auditors.

Can anyone help me with this?

Any help is very much appreciated

Thanks

To practice as an external (Statutory) auditor in India, You have to comply with the provisions of the Indian Companies Act, 1956.

The provisions of companies act very clearly states that only a Chartered Accountant in practice within the meaning of CA Act, 1949 holding a valid Certificate of Practice is eligible for appointment.

Trust it clarifies!
