Applicability of income tax
Am a student and not earning any income. Recently I won a competition and offered a price money of 2000 us$. would like to know whether any tax is payable for such prize money?

It will be taxable under Income from other sources.
But since your total income is below exemption limit ie Rs 2,50,000/- therefore no Tax payable.
