What should be the correct assessment year if um paying tds on rent for month of march to june 2016 for 4 months... whether 2 different challans have to be made for 2 diff assessment years or whether only assessment year 2017-18 is applicable..

Hi Kapil
Yes, two seperate challans will be required. One for March & another for April to June.
However, in case you have paid advance rent for 4 months before March, you will be required to deduct TDS on advance rent i.e. on whole 4 month. Example, you have paid in March 2016, you will deduct TDS in March 2016 for all 4 months and will deposit for AY 2016-17
