Hi,

Can anyone please tell me if 80GG can be claimed for part of the year.

you can claim 80GG irrespective of the period such as whole or part year subject to the conditions such as you shouldn't have received hra, you or your spouse or minor child shouldn't own residential property. you can claim deduction to an extent of rent paid in excess of 10% of total income which should not be more than 60000 or 25% of your total income

Hi Rama,

Yes, Correct. But if you want to claim for part of year, then how do we bifurcate Total Income for part of year.

Because the "Total Income" component is after considering 80C/D etc deductions and it is not possible for dividing these deductions by 12 to get the deductions per month. It does not seem logical to divide by 12 to arrive at per month figure.
