My experience at the Orientation Programme conducted by ICAI was a wonderful experience at Bhubaneswar. Before I had stepped into the campus prior to the OP, I was really nervous the very first day of how the programme would pan out for me but, after the sessions ended I feel a lot more confident now. I  got to learn many things, which are really necessary in our day-to-day life to lead a better professional life ahead such as CA. I got to know about various aspects like how to “develop communication skills, how to be a better team player and work in association of groups, how to have a proper interaction with other individuals completely unknown to us”. Although it wasn’t perfect in every way, but the overall experience was really good.

We got involved in various activities, which were really fun. I was always an introvert type of a person and was never really expressive in nature. But this programme really helped me a lot and I found out certain improvements, which were necessary, but, I had never thought about it before. I made many  friends as well. We were given various scenarios in which 2 persons were selected and were told to speak on the topic with each person countering the views of the other one.

I fell it’s really necessary for us to be a part of these kinds of programmes as it helps us to improve our personality to some extent, an opportunity to interact to the professionals who are already a part of the so called esteemed “Chartered Accountant fraternity”. The focus was also on various aspects like writing skills, presentation skills and soft skills.

It was a 5 days programme which was of 9 hours duration everyday from 9am to 6pm, though the requirement was for 35 hours of OP, but the necessity of such kind of initiatives lies with how one takes such an opportunity. If taken positively it can help to overcome the fear of people to speak among a 50 odd people, how to maintain a proper formal attire essential for the corporate life we will enter ahead, how to be involved in a group and take the leadership to speak for the group( group discussions). Overall the experience was amazing and I enjoyed a lot from the various activities that we got to participate in.
