ASSOCHAM believes that tax policies play a significant role in building nation. GST being the largest tax reform of the country has brought significant changes in doing business in India. Since its implementation in July, 2017, Government has been very supportive to the demands of industries and has made several efforts to ease the GST processes over a period of time. As a step towards simplification, new GST reporting framework would be implemented w.e.f. April 1, 2020 which would allow continuous upload of invoices on a real-time basis, along with certain key features such as return pre-filling and improved input tax credit flow. Further, the GST Council has also proposed to implement e-invoicing mechanism to prevent GST evasion practices which primarily relates to claim of fraudulent input tax credit by taxpayers based on fake invoices.

In its endeavour to keep the industry members informed about the important developments under the GST regime and its impact on businesses, ASSOCHAM is organizing a National Conference on GST on 17 March, 2020 at Le Meridien, New Delhi.
