Due to the outbreak of the global pandemic COVID-19 the government gave various relaxations to taxpayers in GST in the form of extensions of various compliance dates, reduction/waiver of late fees/ interest, etc. The Finance Minister also chaired the 40th GST Council Meeting lately, honorable Finance Minister in the 40th GST Council Meeting announced further relaxations for the taxpayers. The due dates to file GST Returns and applicability of late fees and interest rates have been revised multiple times in the past three months leading to confusion among the GST Practitioners. Therefore the CBIC recently issued a clarification regarding GSTR filing. Rohit is a Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, Cost Accountant, and Gold Medallist Law Graduate. He has also passed Diploma in Information Systems Audit (ICAI) and Associate of Insurance Institute of India (AIII)
