How to lead a stress free life in this modern world, amidst all sorts of pulls and pressures at Work, at Home and on the streets?

I faced innumerable pressures, stress, tensions and volatile situations, at Work, at Home and on the streets, all these years.  But whatever is the situation and whatever be the problems I confront with, and/or thrust upon me, I remain calm inside my heart and mind.  My blood pressure always remains normal, at 100 / 70 mmHg, for the last 33 years!

What are the secrets for my calmness? I share them with you here. If you can practice these Steps, you can also achieve inner calmness, irrespective of the external pulls, stress and pressures. The 7 Steps for a Stress Free Life is explained below:

Step-1: SELF-CONFIDENCE:

First and foremost - Develop your Self-Confidence. Have confidence inside your heart and mind that you can face any adverse situation in life and you can overcome it. Have confidence that you can accomplish any task on earth, come what may. Have Faith in YOURSELF.

Step-2: HAVE FAITH IN GOD:

Develop unshakable Faith in God (if not yet done). Choose your OWN GOD. If you are a Christian, it can be Jesus, Mary or Mary with Infant Jesus, according to your Religion and Faith.  If you are a Muslim, it can be Allah / Holy Kabha. If you are a Jew, it can be Adonai / HaShem. If you are a Buddhist, it can be Buddha. If you are a Persian / Zoarastrian, it can be Zoarastra. If you are a Sikh, it can be Guru Granth / Guru Gobind. If you are a Hindu, it can be Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Saraswathi, Parvathi / Durga, Maha Lakshmi, Rama, Krishna, Shirdi Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Baba, Ganapathy, Hanuman, et al. Choose a particular FORM of your chosen God, which you like the most. 

Step-3: Install the Chosen Form of your GOD, in your HEART:

Visualize the Form of your chosen God residing in your Heart. (The Heart I am referring to is the Spiritual Heart.  The physical heart is on the left side of your chest. But the Spiritual Heart is in the centre of your chest. The Spiritual Heart cannot be seen by the naked eyes, as it has no physical form. But all your feelings and emotions – like compassion, love etc - emanate from the Spiritual Heart. The Spiritual Heart is also different from your Mind.  All the thoughts and desires emanate from your Mind. Again Mind has no physical form. It is different from your Brain.  Mind is the bundle of your Desires).

Step-4: Develop Close Relationship with your Chosen GOD:

Assign a close relationship with your Chosen God. You treat your God as your Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Friend or your Spouse or whichever relationship you like the best.  Your Mother remains your mother throughout your life. Same is the case with your Father, Brother, Sister and the like. Similarly, once you develop a particular relationship with your chosen God, you should maintain the same relationship throughout your life.

Step-5:  Start intimate conversations with your Chosen GOD:

Start talking to your Chosen God internally. Whatever be your problems, stress, tensions, anxieties, fears etc., tell them to your God in your own way, in an informal manner. Don’t feel God is distinct and distant from you. Think and behave that God always resides in your Heart and continue your conversations with your God internally.  Seek from your God, the solutions for your problems, stress, tensions, anxieties, fears etc. Be straight-forward and honest in your talks with your God.  Don’t hide anything and tell all your feelings – good or bad.

Step-6: Handover all your Problems to GOD:

Suppose, you confront with a big problem, which you may feel difficult to tackle. 

For every problem, there may be 3 different solutions –

(A) The solution which you think may be favorable to you, or

(B) The solution which you think may adversely affect you, or

(C) The solution which may be neutral. 

You may narrate to your God, the problem faced by you. You may also narrate the likely 3 types of solutions (as above).  You may also express your wish to have the Solution (A), which you think may be favorable to you. (But, sometimes, in the longer run, the Solution (A) may ultimately prove to be detrimental to you).  You do not know which solution is the best for you in the long run. Only GOD knows, which is the best solution for you.  Please hand-over the entire problem and the likely solutions to the God. Tell your God that from this moment, the particular problem has been handed over to Him and that the problem henceforth belongs to Him. Let Him solve the problem whichever way He wills. Also tell Him that you will accept the solution, whatever it may be, as willed by God.  (You may do this entire exercise mentally with your God. Alternately, you may write out the entire problem, the likely solutions and your preference for a particular solution etc. in a piece of paper and place it before the shrine / photo of your chosen God). From that moment onwards, forget about the problem, but continue to do your routine and take sincere efforts in addressing / tackling the problem, with a firm belief that God is working with you in solving the problem. Such a firm belief in God will take away all your stress, tensions, anxieties, fears, depressions, confusions etc from your mind. But don’t expect miracles to happen overnight and don’t get disappointed that the problem does not get solved immediately. God has His own way and time-frame in resolving your problem(s). But be rest assured and have firm faith that, your problem shall get resolved ultimately. (I had experienced in my 33 years of such a practice, that most of the times, the problems got solved amicably in my favor and sometimes, I did not even know when the problem had indeed been solved by Him).

Step-7: Express your Gratitude to God on a daily basis:

Everyday morning after you get up from your sleep (may be after you complete your morning ablutions), you shall mentally pray at the Shrine or before the photo of your Chosen God in your home. Express your thanks and gratitude to the God for safeguarding you and your family throughout the night as also in the past.  Pray for the welfare, good health, safety, harmony, prosperity etc. for you and your family.  It is still better to pray for the welfare of not only your family members, but for all of your relatives, friends, neighbours, acquaintances and also for the welfare and peace for all the beings in all the worlds / universe. (May All Beings in All the Worlds be Happy and in Peace). Pray to God to let you be His instrument and let Him guide you throughout the day and always in future, in whatever you Think, Speak and Do. Similarly, every night, before going to bed, pray to God:- recount all the things you have done and which happened to you, dedicate all of them to God, express your gratitude for the same, and pray to safeguard you and your family etc. throughout the night and also always in the future.  Even during the day-time, whenever you start your job or any task, pray to God to be with you and bless your job / task to be completed successfully and efficiently. As soon as the particular job / task is completed, express your thanks and gratitude to God. This should be your daily routine and form as a habit.

Once you start practicing these 7 - Habits sincerely, you will discover that all your tensions, stress, anxieties, confusion, fears etc. slowly subside and you will feel calmness and peace inside your heart, despite all the pressing problems and the challenges being faced in your daily life. Your blood pressure will ever remain normal. Start practicing from now on.
