Great news from Income Tax Department!

Now, you don’t need to present yourself in office of Income Tax Authorities for correcting mismatches. Income Tax Department has come up with a new initiative in form of E-Sahyog through which mismatches can be corrected by taxpayers online.

After receiving the details through Income Tax Return, Income Tax Department processes your return and reconcile it with the details shown by third parties in their TDS returns, annual returns filed by them etc. (For example, Ramesh, in his TDS return, showed Rs. 1,00,000 as payment made to Suresh on account of Professional fees and deducted 10,000 as TDS; Department shall check the Income Tax Return of Suresh to reconcile whether Suresh has shown professional fees receipt under the head Business & Profession or not)

Previously, if any mismatch was found during the reconciliation, then Income Tax Department used to select those cases for scrutiny and taxpayers had to meet Income Tax Authorities and give necessary evidences and responses.

But to cut short the cost incurred by Department in sending notices to taxpayers and to reduce the compliance cost for small taxpayers, Income Tax Department has launched e-sahyog to provide online correction mechanism. The response submitted by you shall be processed and if income tax authorities get satisfied by the responses, the issue will be closed and there shall be no need for taxpayers to visit the income tax office;

How to check the mismatches & give response to those mismatches?

  • To check the mismatches, you shall have to login at https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in;
  • After login, you will find “My Pending Actions”;
  • After clicking on “My Pending Actions”, you will find the tab of “E-Sahyog” wherein mismatches as found out by the Department shall be mentioned;
  • You shall have to write your response in front of every mismatch detail and then submit it.

Still finding it difficult to correct the mismatches on e-filing portal? Drop your queries in comments or mail us and we shall assist you in correcting the mismatches.
