Indirect Tax Collection

Based on the information collected from field formations and office of Principal Chief Controller of Accounts, the provisional revenue collection from various heads of indirect taxes viz., Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax was Rs. 30, 288 crore, Rs. 27,773 crore and Rs. 10,401 crore respectively during the first quarter of current financial year 2010-11.

Regular monitoring of revenue collection and analysis of the causal factors is being done at national, zonal and commissionerate level. Audit and anti-evasion measures have also been strengthened to increase the level of tax compliance. 

This information was given by Minister of State for Finance, Shri S.S. Palanimanickam in written reply to a Question raised in Lok Sabha today.
