Dear Friends,

Greetings from Tushar.

I am providing accounting services to a dealer who is importer of the metal scrap and selling the sacrap in domestic market.

As per excise guidelines, we have to maintain the RG 23 Register which is in Hard Copy. But I have prepared the register in Excel format where it has been linked with other data related to imports.

I want to know whether RG 23 register is mendatory to maintain? If yes, in the specified format and can we maintain it in soft copy?

I have prepared the format in Standard format of Excise.

RG23D register maintained by the excise dealer/ depot ,s the records for physical stock in hand and record of exicise invoice received and issued by the dealer for pass on of duty to next buyer/ manufacturer.

if the computer generated records are updated on daily basis with all requisite information contained, then you have to inform the AC/DC of your division mentioning the records maintained and its mode of maintanance.
