New Topic : Monthly subsistence expenses
Posted by : vivekanand on 06 May 2012

I file my income tax returns every year using ITR-2.  Till last year my income was in the tax-free slab; but since this year I am in the 200001-500000 slab.  So I will be paying self assessed taxes for the first time in my life.  I wish to know whether subsistence (necessary for living) expenses such as monthly bills for phone/internet, electricity, cooking gas, basic grocery expenses (milk etc) can be added up for deduction of tax from total income?

If yes, in which place in ITR-2 can these expenses be filled in/shown?  All my income is in schedule OS as I fall in the other sources category.  do the subsistence expenses get covered under section 57?  Please help. Please do give replies.

No doubt Nagendra sir is best for SFM and May 2012 exam tells us so many things. Only cramming the formula and ignoring the derivative and portfolio topic is so much risky. This time only conceptual clarity helped student to solve question.

Nagendra sir gives same importance to all topic and concept of derivative, portfolio and Forex is fabulous.

Hats off to Nagendra sir............

Black money: 'Real estate top violator'

Economic intelligence agencies have informed the Finance Ministry that a major chunk of illegal funds and black money is being generated and routed in the real estate sector of the country.

Special departments like the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB), Income Tax (Intelligence) and the Directorate General of Excise Intelligence have alerted enforcement agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and I-T (Investigations) to conduct special operations and keep a tight vigil on the funds moving in this sector.

At a meeting of the Economic Intelligence Council (EIC) chaired by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee some time back, the CEIB reported that during the year 2011, the maximum percentage of undisclosed income (40 per cent) was detected in the real estate sector, followed by the manufacturing sector (27 per cent).

The concealed incomes were detected by the investigation units of the I-T department and the total undisclosed income in the real estate and construction sector was more than Rs 1,400 crore, while the manufacturing sector reported more than Rs 1,100 crore of stashed funds during the calendar year.

The CEIB is the nodal body for collection and dissemination of economic intelligence data. It coordinates with all the concerned agencies in the area of economic offences like the I-T, ED, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Customs and other agencies like the Narcotics Control Bureau, CBI and the IB.

The data also indicates the modus operandi used by tax evaders in these sectors -- wrong claim of deductions under the I-T Act, unreported cash transactions, multi-layered transactions, routing of funds from foreign shores, including tax haven nations, and under-valuation of profits.

New Topic : Parking space allotment
Posted by : HARIOM GUPTA on 06 May 2012

Sir,

for our company, I acquired a building with space of apx 10000 sq ft at first floor. Owner of the property had given in his offer letter that adequate space for parking of vehicles will be provided. After construction of building I requested to allot adequate space for parking (rent free area), he is agreeable for 1/10 of hired area. The area 1/10 is not adequate hence I requested to allot parking in the ratio of parking space area : total buit up as approved by the Nagar Nigam, (as map approved for construction). Whether we may claim for ? In my opinion it would be rational to allot parking space to each tenant in % of parking space to built up area.

Posted by : rohit on 06 May 2012

Lot of envy in here. As upcoming professionals , we definitely need to stay away from it. You can never understand the problems of the person who has opted for such dummy articleship.

Is better to search for the ways which let us  build our own career rather than ruin other person's career.

So hope you understand and travel in the right path.

Good luck.

Hii,

Depreciation as per Company Law is to be calculated and accounted for accountancy purpose.

And Depreciation as per IT Act is to be calculated to prepare IT Return of the company.

I mean Depreciation as per company law is applicable to all companies.
