Insurance/transit insurance at the time of purchase ofasset?

Mr. X has purchased 2 nos. of Trucks in August, 2012. He has to paid full value of Invoice(exclusive of transport & insurance) along with transportation cost and also Insurance for 1 year. Whether the Insurance paid can be capitalised i.e. added to the cost of the asset? Also whether will it make any difference if there was transit insurance instead of Insurance of 1 year or if there were both?
