e-payment and e-filing of service tax returns

please can anyone help with procedures for e-filing and e-payment of service tax.

       - who can avail the facility of e-payment and e-filing

      - to whom it is compulsory

     - what is criteria to avail such facility

Mr Ajay,

Just visit your service tax jurisdictional office and inform your e mail id to them.They will send a user name and password to your id.Open www.aces.gov.in--servicetax and login to file your return. For e payment you must have net banking of nationlised or other important banks. Just click e tax and choose cbec and select relevant codes first and click submit button, you will prompted for login details. After succesfull login pay the taxes. If you have any doubt, you post here.

                 While your  service Tax payable or paid amount  exceeding Rs 1000000 (Cash/Cenvat) . You should register, pay  and file your returns  on electronically. It was made mandatory from 01/04/2010. If you are an existing assessee you can follow the words of our dear friend Mr CA Kanagaraj. A mail will come from ACES ADMIN which  contains a PASSWORD only and there you can find a link which leads you to register in ACES. (AUTOMATION OF CENTRAL EXCISE AND SERVICE TAX). this is the procedure to register for efiing for existing assessee. If you are a new assessee log on www.aces.gov.in click service tax click new user then follow the system.

Dear Ajay,

To receive the userr id and password, you need to submit an application in ST Form 13 - "Application for permissiton to file ST-3 Return Electronically". On submission of this form, the department will send the user ID and password through email in couple of working days.

The department wont send you the User ID it sends only Tpin, Password and a link which leads to create a user ID.
