Articled training as accounting technician

Please tell weather a person is eligible for continue his articled trainning along with getting employed as accounting technician ? 

Is there any benifit of having a ATC while doing articled trainning and what are the conditions of getting ATC ?

I have heard some remours that if we apply for ATC we can not further continue whole CA program...

Please enlighten me with the facts....
